The most dangerous phrase in enterprise AI right now is “it can do anything.”

You’ve seen the demo. An agent books the meeting, writes the code, answers the customer, reconciles the invoice. The room claps. Then it hits production and quietly dies.
The gap between a compelling demo and measurable business value is significant. MIT’s 2025 GenAI Divide study found that roughly 95% of enterprise generative AI pilots were producing no measurable P&L impact.
The problem isn’t necessarily the model. Increasingly, we’re seeing that narrowly scoped, single-function agents are far more likely to make it into production and deliver measurable results. Give an agent one task with a defined output and you can test it. Ask it to do “anything,” and the number of variables and edge cases grows quickly.
Why? Because “anything” can’t be measured, and what can’t be measured is difficult to govern.
Consider claims triage. There is a defined job to be done. You can measure the outcome, score confidence, route difficult decisions to a human, log what happened and test performance before expanding the agent’s responsibilities.
A do-everything agent gives you far less of that. You can’t audit ambition.
This principle has shaped how we approach agentic AI at Evolution Analytics. Rather than starting with an agent and asking how many things it can do, we start with a specific work item and a measurable resolution.
That’s the thinking behind WIRE™. Built on Snowflake’s agentic platform, WIRE is a resolution layer designed to take a defined work item, such as a claim, warranty case or pricing exception, and drive it toward resolution with governance built into the process. We deploy WIRE through scoped Industry Cards rather than handing organizations a blank canvas they then have to tame.
Snowflake has spent 2026 building a governed execution layer for the agentic enterprise. The winners building on top of it won’t necessarily have the most ambitious agents. They’ll be the organizations disciplined enough to start narrow, demonstrate measurable value and expand from there.
A do-everything agent makes a great demo. An agent that resolves one important thing reliably and measurably makes a business case.
Start narrow. Prove it. Then grow.
